Bridal Shoes

     Bridal Shoes

How does that saying go? Don't ever buy your loved one a pair of shoes, or they might just use them to walk away from you one day...

Well, in the case of being the father or mother of a bride, that may very well happen anyway, but it's something that can't be avoided, so why not help your daughter out with buying a pair of bridal shoes that she can wear to walk away from her life as your daughter, and begin her new life as a wife? It's obviously an important wedding item, so you'll either need to take her with you when you go shopping for a pair, or trust her to make her own choice and simply give her the money.

Why is a good pair of bridal shoes an important item?

It may be amusing for wedding guests to remember a wedding many years later because of the bride either wearing shoes that stood out like a sore thumb, or because she stumbled and fell while walking up the aisle to her bridegroom, but, unless the bride has a really big sense of humour, this is not ideal, and is not how she will want her guests to remember her wedding day.

When choosing a pair of sandals, pumps, or even boots if the wedding dress suits boots, it is important to remember to choose a pair that is comfortable, and preferably similar to what you are used to wearing every day. If you never wear high heels, your wedding day is not the day to start trying them out.

Also, regards comfort, make sure your wedding footwear is the right size, not just the right size you usually wear, but also take into account that you may feel nervous during your marriage ceremony, or that it may be very hot, and if your feet usually expand when they're hot, and your shoes don't, your shoes are going to feel too small and hurt you. People seeing you grimacing while you walk up the aisle or stand at the altar will be tempted to stand up and come up with some imaginative declaration of why they think the marriage union is not a fit one. Of course, if there's any truth in that, you can always blame it on wearing unsuitable footwear when you fall down in the aisle, halfway to the altar, and right next to where the one you really love is sitting.

What if that really happened? What if he stooped down and helped you up, took your hand, and whispered in your ear "Let's get out of here!"

Well, since you're already dressed for the occasion, you could whisper back "Only if you marry me today on a beach somewhere!"

The two of you could fly out of the church, find another priest or minister, or someone else authorised to perform a wedding ceremony and assist you with your marriage vows, and, with silly sandals tossed aside, you could run onto a beach exhilarating in the feel of the sand between your toes, and marry your true love.

Of course, if the one standing at the altar, waiting in vain for you, is really your true love, then you should consider postponing the wedding until you can sort out a proper, suitable pair of bridal shoes for yourself, or change the wedding venue to the beach and marry him barefoot.
